The “OpenCellular” platform is designed to provide the internet, to remote areas in the world that no primary access to the web. The OpenCellular is like a size of a shoe box, and it can support more than 1.5k people with far as 10 kilometers away from its range.
The initial version of OpenCellular will eventually an open-source allowing telecom operators, researchers, and anyone who else to build designs. Telecom Infra Project and Facebook are team up to develop and support an active community for OpenCellular.
OpenCellular also joins Facebook’s other connectivity initiatives like its internet lasers and Aquila the company’s unmanned and solar-powered an internet-distributing plane.
